DPP officials donates food to patients in Mzimba

Some officials from Malawi’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have donated various foodstuffs to patients at Mzimba district hospital as one way of easing problems of starvation that are currently affecting the facility.The officials, who comprised of some noteworthy party top officials mostly from the northern region, donated about 100 bags of maize and about ten bags of beans.Speaking to this publication following the donation, DPP regional governor Kenneth Sanga said his party is keen to help Malawians who are presently distressed with socio-economic tribulations including hunger.“In fact, this is only part of our plans. We have lined up related donations across the northern region through the funds that we contributed amongst ourselves,” said Sanga.Kenneth Sanga; We want to help.On receiving the donation, Mzimba district health officers Alinafe Mbewe expressed gratitude to the party officials for their timely donation.She revealed that the facility is facing a lot of problems which includes shortage of food thus the donation will go a long way in reducing the same.She further urged some well wishers to follow suit so that problems of food must be minimised at the facility which helps thousands of Malawians from across Mzimba district.“They must not stop here because I understand some other health facilities might be facing food shortages as well thus they must continue with their good spirit of helping those in trouble,” she said. Some patients said before the donation they were in great starvation because some of them do not have food even in their homes.”“We are now confident that things will be alright as regards the food shortages that we had here. Now we will be able to follow the dosage requirements as you know, it’s impossible for one to take drugs without eating,” said Emily Zimba who was referred at the facility from Manyamula.Food shortage is an ongoing problem in other hospitals across the northern region.Recent findings indicate that related problems are rocking Rumphi district hospital where patients reportedly spend days without eating.
