JB kills Khumbo Kachali’s dreams
Malawi’s former ruling Peoples Party leader Joyce Banda has pushed Uladi Mussa from the Vice President post he was appointed by New Years day to Acting President, subsequently clearing the mist that arose demanding Khumbo Kachali to pick that post instead.Kachali rebuffed by JB who was sidelined by BinguThis has categorically killed calls made by a faction in the North which wanted Kachali to run the party as Banda remains outside Malawi.Northern region provincial chairperson for the party, Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, maintained that there is a leadership vacuum in the party and this will eventually sink the party.Earlier, Ngwira endorsed Kachali as an interim president of the party.Reacting to Mzomera’s endorsement, the National Executive Committee (NEC) for the party suspended him on the basis that he was confusing the party.Recently, Mzomera is on record to have said again that Kachali should lead the party as an interim president.Ngwira said the party needs a leader who can address some challenges that have rocked it.“The party needs someone who can take the duties of the party’s president like holding rallies, this gives strength to a party but when I suggest that people think I am a rebel.“But I am doing that because I love the party, those who are trashing what I said wants to been seen holy so that they can save their positions in the party, gradually the party is sinking,” said Mzomera.Mussa: Now heads the party. But Mussa has since accepted the post and says he will work lungs out to help it ahead of the next polls.“I will work to unite and rebuild the party, galvanize its membership ahead of the 2019 elections,” said Mussa.Banda left Malawi after she lost the polls in 2014 and has since remained outside with her comeback still striking controversy as she say she is afraid of being politically prosecuted by the Peter Mutharika led government.
