The Malawi national football team home loss to Guniea in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying race on Tuesday raised money amounting to MK14.4 Million, authorities say.According to Football Association of Malawi (Fam) General Secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda, this was from all the gate charges.Lost at home.The FA used advanced tickets which sold more than those sold out on match day, as they had a hike.19,000 tickets were printed for the match with the MBC Stand, going at K2,500 per advance ticket (but K3,500 on match-day), was allocated 550 tickets, while the Covered stands (pegged at K5,000 per advance ticket and K6,000 on match-day), was allocated 1,100 tickets.Two hundred tickets were printed for the VIP Stand at K10,000 per seat in advance buying and K12,000 on the match-day.About 17,000 tickets were printed for the Open stands, whose cost of ticket was K1,000 per seat in advance and K2,000 on the match-day.According to Nyirenda, about K11 million was made from the open stands.The next home match for the Flames is one they will play Swaziland in September.Their 1-2 loss to Guniea means the team is bottom of the group with two points from four matches, with just two games left.
