Police in the commercial city of Blantyre on Thursday shot dead a man who is yet to be identified for loitering.According to the southern region’s deputy police spokesperson, Beatrice Mkuwa, the incident happened in Ndirande Township in the commercial city. The publicist said police officers were patrolling Makata industrial area in the township and noticed four men who were loitering around the area. The police officers became suspicious of the men and they stopped them for questioning. But instead of stopping, the four started running away. The law enforcers chased after the men and pleaded for them to stop but no to avail.“Our men pleaded for them to stop but still they kept on running and we also shot in the air to scare them but it meant nothing until they reached Blantyre secondary school where one was shot dead as he was trying to climb a fence,” said Mkuwa. She added that upon being searched, the man was found with a pistol which they recovered.Meanwhile the other three are still at large but police say they have launched a manhunt for them.
