DPP torn apart!
Malawi’s ex ruling People’s Party (PP) has blasted the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government for abandoning democratic principles. Reacting to the recent arrests of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) officials, PP spokesperson Ken Msonda said the DPP government should not forget that they have been given 30 days to have the maize crisis resolved since failure to do so will result in calls for President Peter Mutharika to step down.Msonda: DPP is undemocratic.Msonda further wondered why the government is trying to divert people’s attention from the problems Malawians are facing by arresting opposition members, saying government should first deal with the challenges. “The DPP administration should put their efforts and energy to address the food and economic crisis currently affecting our nation,” said Msonda. According to Msonda, the DPP administration lacks seriousness as evidenced by its decision to waste the country’s resources on “stupid and silly propaganda.” “This administration is full of liars each time a government spokesperson or government official opens his/her mouth all you hear are lies,” said Msonda.Msonda also backed MCP officials on accusations that they were discussing plans to overthrow the Mutharika regime saying the Whatsapp conversation government is using as a basis for the arrests contains a lot of errors. But at the moment, government maintains it will bring to book all people linked to the said plot.
