DPP campaigh director Jappie Mhango, who is also Minister of Transport and Public Works, has been criss-crossing the district to campaign for the party asprining parliamentarians in the constituencies.
He has assured people of Ekwendeni in Mzimba North East constituency that it will soon construct two bridges on Thukutu and Lunyangwa rivers to improve road network in the area.
Mhango said his ministry has been advised by the State President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to construct more bridges in the constituency.
He said the DPP aspirant for the constituency, Edgar Tembo made the request for the bridge as he feared for lives of school children who cross the rivers to and from school using risky make-shift bridges.
“I will ensure that the two bridges are constructed so that people cross these rivers without endangering their lives. This is something that President Mutharika already assented to,” said Mhango.
Special Presidential Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs, Nick Masebo also urged people of Mzimba to elect DPP parliamentarians n al constituencies including Mzimba North currently held by Agness Nyalonje.
Masebo called on the people to continue rallying behind the DPP-led government and advised them against being brainwashed and cheated by selfish politicians who use handouts to woo support for their political parties.
“As a community, know what you want and be vigilant in standing against whoever is not willing to meet your community’s needs,” he said.
